Science and Spirit: The ONE Symbol

Although the intention of the ONE symbol is to highlight our unified spiritual connection, the science of quantum physics is validating the spiritual concept of oneness and interconnection of life.  The lines between science and spirit are continually blurring.  Modern string theory physicists might even assert that a distinction between science and spirit is unwarranted or irrelevant.

One of the great scientific minds of the 20th Century, Albert Einstein, made the following comment when describing the demarcation between science and the spiritual world. “Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe – a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble.”

That spirit is the unifying ONE source resonance – a string that runs through the entire living world and sutures each apparently separate creature into a vast and interconnected world. Einstein elaborated further on this unified spiritual connection as follows: “A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.”

“Spooky action at a distance” was Einstein’s colorful description of the scientific principle of quantum entanglement wherein particles, even when separated by great distances, remain connected so that actions performed on one affect the other. The link described by Einstein is a unified resonance that runs through and connects each of us. We are tethered by our source resonance – the sacred love vibration – that connects each of us like a suture. The actions of one living creature affect all – all creatures are interconnected and a part of the whole. Gandhi’s instruction to “be the change you want to see in the world” is steeped in the knowledge of interconnection among all, and that our actions have a direct impact on all other sentient creatures in the world.

While we recognize the vast scientific research in the field of quantum physics and string theory, the ONE symbol isn’t intended to add to (or present a case against) such research. Similarly, the ONE symbol is not a revelation or supplement to extant scripture.  Rather the ONE symbol is merely that – a symbol –intended to remind of our vast interconnection (our core love vibration), and direct the viewer toward Source.

The value and meaning of any symbol is only as strong as the truth behind the symbol. We can look at science and scripture as support for that truth.  Modern scientists are validating the vast interconnection among all of life, which is consistent with the core love message of most spiritual traditions.  The ONE Symbol is intended to reflect that truth behind the evolving science and the historical scripture – we are ONE and we are love – Only Love.  The ONE symbol is a visual depiction of our source love resonance (the sacred mantra OM), with the intention (sankalpa) that the ONE symbol only reflect love, unity, oneness and connection among all living things.
