MANIFESTING OM AS ONE:
The manifestation of the ONE symbol begins with the sacred symbol and mantra OM. The meaning of OM has deep roots in Scripture.
OM represents everything that is manifested in our reality,
Yet OM has its origin in the unmanifest
(everything in the world – albeit appearing different and dual,
Has its source in and reflects ONE)
-Mandukya Upanishad
OM is the unmanifest essence of God; and the sacred sound that manifests all in the world.
“OM is the symbol of God”
-Yoga Sutras I-27In the beginning there was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. Amen.”
-John 1:1“I am the syllable OM.”
-Bhagavad Gita 7.8
The process to visually manifest and depict the ONE symbol must start with contemplation of OM.
Before starting sacrifices, holy practices
and austerities (as prescribed by the Scriptures)
serious spiritual seekers
should chant OM.
-Bhagavad Gita 17.24
Aspirants are advised to meditate on OM (the sound and its meaning) until absorption.
“Concentrate on OM in the heart center,
as though it is like a candle flame.”
-Dhyana Bindu UpanishadOM should be repeated over and over again
While reflecting on its deeper meaning (Yoga Sutras I-28)
From this (japa mantra) practice,
Awareness turns inwards, all obstacles are overcome
and simultaneously dawns knowledge of the Self (Yoga Sutras I-29)
Inward absorption of OM manifests outward reflection of ONE
“Those who realize the Self . . .
they see themselves in everyone
and everyone in themselves”
-Brihadaranyaka Upanishad Ch. IV, 4.23“all creatures, though one,
know not that they are ONE”
-Chandogya Upanishad Ch VI, 9.1
The process of absorption of OM inwardly to manifest ONE outwardly might be summarily depicted as follows:
When we meditate on OM,
its sacred sound and meaning:
And absorb it into our heart,
our light shines into the world as:
The result of that process is “clarity” and “right knowledge” (vidya) that we are ONE with a source resonance connection of Love.
“They live in wisdom who see themselves in all and all in them.”
Bhagavad Gita 2.55“You will see all creatures in the Self, and all in me.”
-Bhagavad Gita 4.35
